A Place to Call Home

Myles has been working very hard, trying to find a place to live for our family while we are in Gdansk. This has been quite a task that we were not expecting to have to do on our own. The people at Fulbright had told him that there would be someone at the University to help with housing. The people at the University were unaware and unprepared to help us with that.

So Myles scoured ads online, translated them from Polish to English, found real estate agents, created emails in Polish (thank goodness for google translate!) and found us a little house to rent! It is 1200 square feet. We've seen pictures and it looks really cute. It is obviously new, certainly not a communist type house.
Myles signed a letter of intent yesterday and as of September 1st, it is ours until June 30th. Our address is in 80 Gdansk, Poland. If you want our actual street address, email me. I have no idea how to pronounce the street name. Myles will get there on the 9th.

Meanwhile, the phone company turned our home phone off on Monday, July 20th. Myles had scheduled it to be turned off on September 20th. It was quite a hassle to get it turned back on but looks like we're back in business for now!

I have the office painted and cleared out. Wow, we had a lot of junk! My next projects are to paint our master bathroom, clear out our closet and then tackle our bedroom for painting. To me these are the hardest rooms so it will be huge to get these done! Our renters are arriving in KC this weekend. They are needing a notarized lease so they can start their children in our neighborhood school on Tuesday, July 28th. So that piece will be completed.

This week we are getting little pictures taken of all of us for our Visas that we need in Poland. Myles and I are also getting international driver's licenses. I have been surprised that they only cost $15 and seem very easy to get. Good for us but I wonder if that's good overall. Oh, well!
